About Chris

Chris is a 5th generation Californian who grew up next to their great, great grandparents house originally built in 1855. They trace their O’Connell family heritage back to Ireland. O’Connell Tours logo is based on the O’Connell family crest and has been updated with portions of the tour industry.
In 2006, following many years in sales and service, Chris was looking for a big career change. With their young family, they moved to Sonoma and started working part time in a tasting room to dip their toes in the wine industry. Within weeks they were absolutely hooked and fell in love with wine and the business. Prior to moving to The Netherlands, they worked primarily in direct to consumer sectors of the industry and also spent time working in vineyards on the farming side.
The international move allowed Chris to finally see their dreams of owning a tour business come to fruition and to share Dutch wine, beer, spirits, tulips, cheese and now relocation tours with you!
